Leisure Activities

There are many things to do and see around the local area.  A few ideas.....

Village Markets

There are wonderful vibrant local markets in most town.  In addition, in July and August,  the night food markets are a buzz of fun, food and music.  Local artisan products, wines and foods are available to enjoy.

Soumansac, just 4km east of  La Rocheraie, is popular locally for its Sunday food markets.  Sit under the trees, enjoy the outstanding views and dine al fresco on delicious local food and wine.

Plum Village

Mindfulness Practice Centre

Plum Village is the largest international practice center in the Plum Village tradition, and the first monastic community founded by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay) in the West.

Plum Village began in 1982 as a small, rustic farmstead, and has today grown into Europe’s largest Buddhist monastery, with over 200 resident monks and nuns, living and practising in four different hamlets spread out across the French countryside.

Every year, Plum Village welcomes thousands of meditation practitioners from all around the world who come to experience the art of mindful communal living.

I just wanted to write a few lines to say thank you both for a wonderful and relaxing stay. Idyllic is an often used word, but in this case it describes perfectly your home, your hospitality, and your location. Neither of us can recall a better stay anywhere,  the only problem we had  was having to leave. We will definitely be returning, If you were on Trip Advisor  I would give you 5 stars across the board. Thank you once again.
